Free Airwindows Consolidated iOS Brings 500+ Effects to Mobile
Developer Sveinbjorn Palsson has released a free Airwindows Consolidated iOS port, bringing Chris Johnson's complete library of over 500 DSP audio effects to mobile producers. Originally unified on desktop by BaconPaul from the Surge XT team, this release packages decades of acclaimed open-source sound processing into an accessible mobile app. The utility requires no user account, running seamlessly without restrictions or hidden paywalls.
Over 500 Open-Source DSP Effects on Mobile
The iOS edition contains the complete desktop catalog of Airwindows algorithms. Users get instant access to a vast selection of processors, including analog tape saturators, console emulations, resonant filters, algorithmic reverbs, dynamic compressors, and creative pitch shifters.
Key features include:
- Over 500 unique audio algorithms designed by Chris Johnson
- Built-in category browser with real-time text search and tag filtering
- Integrated parameter documentation embedded directly into the user interface
- Minimalist, distraction-free visual interface with light and dark themes
- AUv3 plugin support for mobile DAWs such as Logic Pro for iPad, AUM, and Cubasis
- Completely open-source codebase licensed under the permissive MIT license
Performance and Workflow
Unlike conventional plugins that rely on heavy skeuomorphic graphics, Airwindows Consolidated focuses entirely on mathematical precision and negligible CPU overhead. Each algorithm features simple slider controls, making automated modulation and wet/dry mix adjustments effortless on touchscreen displays. Because every algorithm includes an in-app summary of its tonal character and dynamic behavior, engineers can navigate the expansive sound suite without referencing external manuals.
Airwindows Consolidated is completely free and available now on the Apple App Store for compatible iPhone and iPad devices. The software delivers an exhaustive archive of production tools to mobile environments without any financial barrier.
